I have been with NCG since June, 2008. I started out as a Community Based Counselor II, then became a clinical supervisor, and an Assistant Site Director at the Virginia Beach site. I obtained my B.S. from Old Dominion University and my MSW degree from Norfolk State University. I am in the process of becoming a registered play therapist, and have started the Crisis Stabilization Program for children and adults at the Virginia Beach site. Katherine Rainey, MA, LPC

Site Manager

I have been in the mental health field since 2016, working in hospitals, residential treatment, outpatient, crisis, and home/community-based services with clients of all ages. My entry into this field began in Kansas City, where I earned my BS in Psychology from the University of Kansas. From there, I earned my Master’s from Garrett ETS before making my way to Virginia. I am trained in Narrative Therapy and EMDR, which I use to journey alongside others as they learn to understand their story, heal from trauma, find their voice, build healthy relationships, and create a life that is meaningful to them. I am passionate about giving back to my community and supporting the development of other clinicians. There is so much beauty in us all growing together!

I specialize  in working with individuals with co-occurring disorders. Additionally,  I am certified in Trauma Focused CBT, which I utilize with individuals experiencing trauma and abuse, as well as victims of domestic violence. Terri Evans, MSW, Supervisee in Social Work

Clinical Supervisor

I began my journey in social work with a passion for helping individuals overcome life’s challenges and recognize their inner strength. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Virginia State University in 2018 and my Master of Social Work degree from Norfolk State University in 2021. I am currently a Supervisee in Social Work working toward obtaining my Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.
Over the past two years, I have provided outpatient mental health services to adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and women’s issues. My therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and EMDR-informed interventions. I have received training in EMDR and am actively pursuing advanced training to further support clients in processing trauma and achieving lasting healing.
I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences and work toward meaningful change. I believe that every individual possesses unique strengths and the capacity for growth. My goal is to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and discover the light at the end of the tunnel, even during life’s most challenging moments. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they pursue healing, personal growth, and emotional well-being.
