Meet the Staff

Site Director

I have worked in the developmental and mental health fields for over 20 years. My experience includes an emphasis on program development and mental health services for clients from early childhood to adults. I enjoy exercising and spending time with my family. My NCG motto is, "You can't climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets!"

Daniel Brooks, MSW, Supervisee in Social Work

TDT Clinical Supervisor

Born in the town of Rocky Mount, VA. I received my BA in Psychology at Hampton University and my Master's of Social Work from Radford University. My early experience ranges from working as a clinician in the Newport News CSB Autism day treatment program to Therapeutic Mentoring, as well as a residential counselor for emotionally and sexually abused youth in the Atlanta area. With over 10 years in the field between crisis stabilization and intensive in-home. Moved back to Virginia in 2015 where I continued my Journey as a Therapeutic Day Treatment counselor for the Martinsville Office. In 2017 I was awarded the opportunity to complete my clinical internship with the Salem Veteran Affairs Hospital in the suicide prevention center with focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  I like to think that I was placed on this earth for the sole purpose of changing lives. Helping others realize their full potential is my mission. 

Megan Elaine Gasink Haywood, MA, LMHP-E, Resident Counselor

TDT Clinical Supervisor

I received my BS at the University of Florida and my Master's in Clinical and Pastoral Counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary.  My experience ranges from outpatient specifically with trauma in women and children, over 8 years as a supervisor in the mental health field, and working in the field for 13 years.  I was an LPC in Ohio in 2006, but am now working towards my license in VA.  I take a solution focused approach with supervision.  I am passionate about the empowerment and encouraging our staff to reach their highest potential.

Melissa Nelson, Resident in Counseling

TDT Supervisor and BAM Coordinator

My name is Melissa Nelson and I am a supervisor for our Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) program and I supervise our Beyond Anger Management (BAM) program. I earned a BA in Women's Studies and Psychology from Wells College, a BS in Secondary Education from Lock Haven University, and an MA in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. I worked as a school counselor prior to coming to National Counseling Group.  I love that I now get to work along side schools, getting children the services that they need. I am currently a Resident-in-Counseling and am working toward my LPC.
