Meet the Staff
Nakkia Grimes, LCSW, RPT-S
Director
I have been with NCG since June, 2008. I started out as a Community Based Counselor II, then became a clinical supervisor, and an Assistant Site Director at the Virginia Beach site. I obtained my B.S. from Old Dominion University and my MSW degree from Norfolk State University. I am in the process of becoming a registered play therapist, and have started the Crisis Stabilization Program for children and adults at the Virginia Beach site. I also enjoy reading and watching movies.
Leah Walker, LCSW
Clinical Supervisor
I joined NCG as a Community-Based Counselor in August, 2010. I became a clinical supervisor in March, 2014, as I was obtaining my license. I received my BA in Psychology and Anthropology from the College of William and Mary, and my Masters of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Currently, I am pursuing certification in play therapy, and am a practitioner for Virginia Beach's Avenues to Wellness program. I enjoy working with all ages. Besides this, I am also a certified facilitator for Love and Logic and co-coordinator for Virginia Beach's Parent Partnership Program. I'm also an avid movie buff, with other interests including art, traveling and the occasional game of paint-ball.
Lemuel Williams, MA, LPC
IACCT Director/Outpatient Therapist
I began working at NCG in 2010, providing both intensive in-home and MHSS services. I got my bachelor's degree in psychology & computer science from Oral Roberts University and a dual master's in school and community counseling from Regent University. I am a National Certified Counselor, Certified Traumatologist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Resident LMFT. I am the newest clinical supervisor and oversee the Crisis Stabilization program. I have a passion for trauma and have had the privilege to travel doing trauma work in South Africa, Haiti, Nicaragua, Kenya, and Romania. Fun fact about me: I play 8 musical instruments!
Catwana Elliott, LPC
Clinical Supervisor
I joined the NCG family in 2015 and became a clinical supervisor in 2021. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology from Chowan University, a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, and currently pending licensure. I am an advisor and member of the Sunshine Committee, a committee that is responsible for organizing company events and fostering team morale. Some of my interests include spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and karaoke.
Laryssa Rubens, LMSW, Supervisee in Social Work
Clinical Supervisor
I am a recent addition to the NCG team as of March 2023! I have previously worked in hospital-based mental health services, providing acute inpatient and crisis intervention services. I graduated from Boise State University with both my bachelors and masters degree in Social Work, and I am currently pending licensure. I feel as though I found alignment within my life's purpose when I stumbled into this field. My hope is to help guide others towards finding their “why,” and purpose in this life through connection, empowerment, and mentorship. When I am not at work you can find me hanging out with my family and three dogs, working on home projects, exploring new brunch spots, or attending various music, art, or other community events.
