Meet the Staff
Holly Smith, LPC
State Director
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a diverse background treating mental health and substance abuse disorders in multiple settings. I received my Master's degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in community and addiction from The College of William & Mary in 2007. I have worked in emergency services and crisis intervention for three different Virginia community services boards before coming to NCG. Since 2010, I have been supervising and managing community-based programs in Southwest Virginia and beyond. During my time with NCG, I have served as a Clinical Supervisor, Site Director, Area Clinical Director, and now State Director. My interests include clinical supervision, program management, and leadership, as well as recruiting and training future human services professionals. My true passion is training and guiding the next generation of counselors to help the growing mental health needs in the communities we serve.
Henry (Hank) H. Daniels, Jr., MA, LPC
Site Manager
I am a Veteran of the US Army, serving from 1983-1989. I spent 20 years in the Furniture Industry, eventually starting my fourth career in the mental health field in 2009. I recently earned my LPC License, working in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I, and my wife of more than 20 years, pastor the Danville Church of God of Prophecy and continue to work with at-risk families, adults, and youth within the community. We have three children and eight grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with our family and developing my marksman skills.
Lesley Minter, MS, Resident in Counseling
Clinical Supervisor
I’m a Clinical Supervisor and Resident in Counseling with a Master’s degree from Capella University and over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in residential treatment, in-home services, mental health skill-building, and outpatient therapy.
I specialize in working with children and am especially passionate about play therapy. My calm, grounded presence helps kids feel safe and understood, and I love finding creative ways to connect with them as they navigate tough emotions and experiences.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me traveling with my partner, relaxing by the pool, spending time with my children, or loving on my three dogs.
Alyson Alfieri, MA, LMHP-E, Resident in Counseling
Clinical Supervisor
I am a Clinical Supervisor and Resident in Counseling with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I specialize in personality disorders, trauma-informed care, and humanistic, person-centered approaches that empower clients to reconnect with their strengths and values. My therapeutic style integrates mindfulness-based interventions and emphasizes building authentic, compassionate relationships.
I have experience working with individuals and families across crisis services, outpatient therapy, and the ID/DD population. I have worked in schools, private agencies, and community-based settings, providing support in diverse environments and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my partner and children, traveling, reading, and exploring new local places.
