Meet the Staff
Holly Smith, LPC
Director
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a diverse background treating mental health and substance abuse disorders. I received my master's degree in counselor education with an emphasis in community and addiction from The College of William & Mary. I have worked in emergency services and crisis intervention for three different Virginia community services boards. Since 2010, I have been supervising community-based programs in the New River Valley. My current interests include clinical supervision, program management, and leadership, as well as recruiting and training future human services professionals. I have a natural love of helping people.
Charity Curran, MS, LPC
Clinical Supervisor/Outpatient Therapist
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Radford University. I have resided in the New River Valley since 2002 and love the opportunities afforded in our wonderful part of Virginia. My professional background includes treating mental health needs across all age groups in the home and community settings, with an emphasis on working with adolescents and young adults. My personal interests include spending time with my family, reading, attempting to tap into my artistic side, and connecting with nature. I love being able to assist others in reaching their personal goals and feel empowered in taking control of their own mental health needs. I am excited to be with the wonderful NCG team and for the amazing people I get to work with every day.
Lindsay Schwertz, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Radford University. I moved to the NRV in July 2014 and have worked for NCG since 2015. My professional background includes working with adults and children/adolescents with serious mental illness, trauma, and depression/anxiety. My passions include trauma work, mindfulness, and family systems. In my free time, I enjoy connecting with nature, listening and dancing to music, spending time with friends, and traveling. I am excited to witness and be a part of the NCG team as we continue to grow and serve the New River Valley and surrounding areas of Southwest Virginia!
