Holly Smith, LPC

State Director

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a diverse background treating mental health and substance abuse disorders in multiple settings. I received my Master's degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in community and addiction from The College of William & Mary in 2007. I have worked in emergency services and crisis intervention for three different Virginia community services boards before coming to NCG. Since 2010, I have been supervising and managing community-based programs in Southwest Virginia and beyond. During my time with NCG, I have served as a Clinical Supervisor, Site Director, Area Clinical Director, and now State Director. My interests include clinical supervision, program management, and leadership, as well as recruiting and training future human services professionals. My true passion is training and guiding the next generation of counselors to help the growing mental health needs in the communities we serve.

Site Manager

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with years of experience in the heart of Appalachia treating individuals in crisis, in the community, and in outpatient office settings. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Biology and Psychology from King University. I am currently the secretary for the Southwest Chapter of Virginia Counselors Association. I am an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and VALEAP. I have a passion for treating individuals struggling with grief, trauma and interpersonal challenges. I value the natural beauty of Appalachia and the healing effects it has on mental health, so I will often incorporate mindfulness into my treatment modalities. And, as an oldest sibling, I have a natural interest in leadership. My goal is to support counselors in providing versatile and quality counseling services to a variety of populations in southwest Virginia. Outside of work I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and traveling.

FFT Clinical Supervisor

I have been with NCG since 2019, beginning my work with the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) program when the company first opened an office in Abingdon. I have served as a supervisor for the FFT program since 2020 and also provide outpatient therapy to a diverse range of clients. I am deeply passionate about supporting our team of clinicians and the meaningful work we do to help individuals and families create lasting, positive change.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, all from Liberty University. Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children as well as my dogs. I also appreciate hands-on projects such as cooking, home renovations, gardening, and crafts.
