Meet the Staff
Dana Scott, LPC
State Director
I joined the NCG community in 2015. I attended The University of Virginia for undergraduate studies and received a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2011. During my last year at UVA, I participated in the Young Women's Leadership Program, where I was a big sister to a middle school girl. This experience made a big impact in my life, and I credit this to choosing to pursue a career in counseling. I received a master's in professional counseling from Liberty University in 2014. I believe in serving the under-served populations and being a source of hope for clients and families as they learn the tools to help navigate the reasons that are leading them into services. My team and I are excited to serve the surrounding community and show them what CARE at NCG is all about!
Sarah Ewoldt, MA, LPC
Site Manager, Outpatient Counselor
I have been part of the NCG community since 2012 and continue to follow my passion to work with children and families who simply desire healing and change in their lives. A majority of my professional career has been in the Fredericksburg area, in which I’ve had an opportunity to work in various mental health settings within the community. I graduated from Liberty University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling in 2011, and I became a licensed professional counselor in VA in 2020. Most of my experience involves working with children and young teens with trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental health challenges. When working with clients, I utilize cognitive behavioral approaches, solution focused strategies, and other evidence-based interventions to encourage empowerment and identifying personal strengths to find success in therapeutic goals. When I am not working, enjoying family is a priority. I also enjoy traveling, cooking, live music, watching movies, and self-care.
Shella Sevigny, MSW, LMHP-S
Clinical Supervisor, Outpatient Counselor
I am a US. Army Veteran with a heart to see individuals, and families completely restored. My personal mission statement is to empower others to find HELP in life, which stands for Health, Enlightenment, Love, and Prosperity. I believe that any person can change and improve their situation. My approach to counseling is to work collaboratively with each client to assist them in reaching their goals. I incorporate humor, expressive arts, and a variety of other clinical interventions while helping them discover what unique strengths they personify that will assist in their success.
I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in serving children from the University of Maryland University College, and a Master's Degree in Social Work with an emphasis on children and families (specifically military families) from The University of Southern California.
I have counseling experience with a wide range of clients in a variety of treatment settings including a nonprofit community agency setting and in outpatient facilities. Areas of emphasis with children include mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, conduct disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, and psychosis. I also have a strong base of counseling experience working with adults in specialty areas that include depression, bipolar disorder, general mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Carren Norwood, MA, LMHP-R
Clinical Supervisor, Outpatient Counselor
I have been with National Counseling Group since 2019. I started as a community counselor and love client care. I joined the field of counseling to help others needing mental health support, guidance with day-to-day care, and daily living improvement. I enjoy working in different areas to broaden my understanding of the field, to provide care and guidance for not just clients, but counselors, at different levels. I also have experience with a short-term stay facility that works with teens struggling to remain in the home. That's where I really began to appreciate client care and the importance of family inclusion towards improvement and not just the individual. I graduated from Argosy University with my masters in clinical counseling and earned my undergraduate from University of Minnesota in psychology and minored in social psychology. I am working to get certified as an EMDR therapist in the future.
Ruth Ilboudo, LCSW
Clinical Supervisor
I'm Ruth Ilboudo, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker here in Virginia where I’m privileged to use my skills to serve. My setting experience includes non-profit organizations, psychiatric hospitals, detention centers, community- and home-based counseling, drug and alcohol treatment programs and treatment facilities, and residential programs. My client experience ranges from singles, married couples, and families with children to military personnel. My niche is health and mental health, with an emphasis on trauma. In our performance-based society humans are under loads of pressure. Some of these pressures are internal and some are external. However, we must make healing a priority for a better tomorrow and a better future.
