Meet the Staff
Shardae Washington, LMFT, LMHP
Director
Shardae is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and EMDR Trained Therapist who has been in the community mental health field for almost 15 years. She is currently the Director for the Richmond and Lynchburg Offices of National Counseling Group and has been with the company for the past 2 years. Prior to her transition to NCG, she was a clinical- and Virginia Board of Counseling- approved supervisor with Therapeutic Interventions, a ncgCARE partner, for 8 years and owned her own private practice in Colonial Heights until 2020. She is passionate about ensuring the highest quality of services provided to clients, advocating for the populations served, using creative strategies to improve service delivery, and developing the clinical growth of her staff.
Amber Jennings, LCSW
Site Manager
Amber Jennings is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. She has 4 years of clinical experience working with various populations in the Richmond area, and has worked in the community setting with children, adolescents, families, adults, and therapeutic groups. Amber has assisted those who are experiencing an array of challenges such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and trauma-related disorders.
Amber received her undergraduate in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Masters of Social Work from Simmons University in Boston. She utilizes a person-centered approach with all individuals and believes this is vital to the therapeutic process. Amber uses a strength-based approach with all individuals helping them make positive and healthy changes. She uses a variety of different modalities and approaches with each individual that best fits their needs.
The therapeutic methods that Amber uses are individualized based on each individual’s needs. She firmly believes in meeting each individual where they are in the therapeutic process. These approaches include many of the following: motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, art and expressive talk therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy.
In her free time, Amber enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and spending time with her dog Milo the Husky. She also enjoys reading and traveling.
Fatima Lowry, M.S.Ed., LPC-R
Clinical Supervisor
Fatima Lowry is a Resident in Counseling who is from the city of Brotherly Love. Growing up she has always had dreams of helping others and providing a safe space for people to be heard.
Fatima has experience partnering with children, teens, adults, and families in outpatient- and community- based settings. She has aided these populations in managing mental health crises, anger management, anxiety and depression, learning effective communication skills, conflict resolution, improving self-esteem and social skills, and LGBTQ+ issues. She is passionate about helping people find their motivation, reach their potential, and move beyond their circumstances.
Fatima enjoys reading, spending time with her family, cuddling with her dog, and traveling.
